Bookkeeping Questions
Answered Plainly

Do you offer bookkeeping services in Kannapolis NC?

Yes. Iron Sharp Solutions is based in Kannapolis and serves small businesses throughout Cabarrus County, Concord, and the greater Charlotte area. We also serve clients remotely across the country.

How much does bookkeeping cost for a small business in Kannapolis?

Our bookkeeping retainers start at $250 per month for early stage businesses with straightforward needs and scale based on transaction volume, revenue, and scope. Every engagement is scoped individually during a free call before we quote. You never pay for more than you need.

Do you work with churches and nonprofits in the Kannapolis area?

Yes and this is an area where we have specific experience and genuine interest. We understand fund accounting, pastoral housing allowance, nonprofit reporting requirements, and the unique bookkeeping needs of faith-based organizations. If you are a church or nonprofit in Kannapolis or Cabarrus County, we would love to talk.

What is a pastoral housing allowance and do you handle it?

A pastoral housing allowance is a portion of a minister's compensation that is excluded from federal income tax under Section 107 of the Internal Revenue Code. It must be designated in advance by the church and properly documented. We are familiar with how it works and how to handle it correctly in the books. This is an area where many general bookkeepers get things wrong.

My books are a mess and I am behind. Can you still help?

Absolutely, and this is one of the most common situations we encounter. Backlog cleanup is handled as a separate one-time project before the ongoing retainer begins. We assess the books first, give you a flat fee for the cleanup, get everything current, and then transition into the monthly retainer. You will never pay retainer pricing for catch-up work.

What accounting software do you use?

We work primarily in QuickBooks Online and hold QuickBooks ProAdvisor Advanced certification. If you are not currently on QuickBooks Online we can help you get set up. If you are on another platform we will assess what makes sense for your situation before recommending a change.

What is the difference between a bookkeeper and a CPA?

A bookkeeper keeps your financial records accurate and current every month. A CPA prepares and files your taxes. Most small businesses need both and they serve different functions. We work alongside your CPA and coordinate at year end in whatever format they prefer. If you do not have a CPA we are happy to connect you with one in our network.
